America’s Most Memorable Spring Road Trips

Spring is the colourful reminder that it is time to break free from the cold slumber of winter. Flowers are starting to bloom, the weather is beginning to warm up, which means it is time to get yourself an rv rental  and go on a road trip.

Whether you are planning to explore the great outdoors or visit quaint towns and historic sites, there are plenty of memorable drives you can take across the United States. If you have not finalised your itinerary yet, here are some of our top picks for America’s most memorable road trips.

1. California’s Wine Country

If you’re up for a wine-themed spring road trip, then California’s 4,000 wineries would be more than satisfactory. Napa and Sonoma Valley have several wineries you can drive to, with free wine tasting of their finest vintage. You can start the drive from San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge and on to the land of the rolling, rich vineyards.

2. North Florida Road Trip

Daytona Beach and Fort Lauderdale have long been top spring break destinations, but you may want to drive up northern Florida for its quaint villages and picturesque beach towns. So relax and enjoy a trolley in St. Augustine, or go on a ghost tour of the area. A quick  30-minute drive to St. John’s River Highway will take you through canopied trees, abundant wildlife and citrus groves.

3. Washington D.C.’s Cherry Blossoms

Washington D.C. transforms into a pink paradise as the city’s cherry blossom trees turn the country’s capital into a flora paradise. Make sure though that you rent a campervan around the city’s annual cherry blossom festival to enjoy the breathtaking sights.

4. Acadia All American Road

Do not forget to pack your binoculars for one of America’s most scenic coastal drives – Acadia All American Road in Maine. Skirting Acadia National Park, the area is great for spotting nesting peregrines and bald eagles. The jewel of the drive however, is  Park Loop Road following the ridges of Bar Harbor, Otter Cliff and Sand Beach. Stop over at the famous Jordan Pond House for popovers and homemade ice cream.

5. Antelope Valley

The ride through Antelope Valley in California is famous for its golden poppies blooming all over the Mojave Desert region. If you want to see the highest concentration of the state’s official flower though, ride up the 17,600-acre Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve. For sweeping panoramas of the region, drive to Antelope Butte Vista Point.

6. Columbia River Highway

The Columbia River and its surrounds have long been Oregon’s most scenic attraction. Start your drive in Portland through Columbia River Gorge and onwards to the state’s tallest peak at more than 11,000 feet.
